Apprentice profile: Richard Kay
Our electrical engineering apprentice, Richard Kay, shares his reasons for learning a trade and what he’s enjoying the most about his new role. Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship? "I’m 16 and wanted to do an apprenticeship as I felt it would offer more opportunities for learning and teach me skills in different ways." What attracted you to electrical engineering? "I wasn’t entirely sure which trade I wanted to go into until I was offered the chance to train at REL. I saw it as a great opportunity to learn about the industry and a key trade that we all rely on." What are you enjoying most about your apprenticeship? "I’m learning something new every day. For each task, I work closely with different members of the REL team and complete the job to the best of my ability. It’s really rewarding, and I’m enjoying the challenge and developing my skills."
